Why is my photo 3D model distorted?

Your photo 3D model is distorted typically due to insufficient input photos, low-quality shots, incorrect camera calibration, or reconstruction algorithm errors.

Too few or non-overlapping photos leave gaps the software fills inaccurately. Blurry, overexposed, or low-resolution images make it hard to detect features for 3D points. Uncorrected lens distortion (like fish-eye) skews depth calculations, while algorithm misalignment of feature points warps the model.

Fix it by taking 20+ sharp, well-lit photos from all angles (circle the object, don’t just tilt). Use tools with auto-lens correction (e.g., Meshroom). If the algorithm is off, test a different free tool to see if results improve.
